vote early, vote often! I doubt there’s anyone who follows me that would vote “no” to this, but just in case, please unfollow me and go fuck yourself… (Source: fatcatsandcurls, via blackbutshining)
I’ve submitted her before. Love her androgyny. I stalk her on her tumblr.
by Jamie Peck Male model Andrej Pejic is a very pretty man. So pretty, in fact, that some people think his slender boy-chest is too hot for newsstands. Although it’s common knowledge in the fashion and media worlds that Andrej is a dude, T&A-filled lad mag FHM decided to have a bit of fun by naming him the 98th sexiest woman in the world. This could’ve been a chance to make some self-effacing jokes skewering FHM‘s own defensive performance of masculinity, but whoever wrote the accompanying copy decided to be a total douchenozzle instead, because hey, no homo. Via Alicia Swann (someone at FHM wised up to how offensive this was/is and removed the original post): “‘Thing’ is quite accurate.” “Pass the sick bucket.” Why don’t you tell us how you really feel, bro? Oh yeah: because that would likely involve the sentence “I am threatened and a little turned on by this gorgeous young man who defies traditional expectations of gender, and this has me scared shit-less.” It’s also incredibly wrongheaded to compare the male-identified Pejic with the female-identified Lea T; while he plays around with androgyny, Pejic has never expressed any desire to actually become a woman, while Lea T felt she was born the wrong sex and took steps to fix it. I’d say this is pure homophobia and transphobia, but Pejic has not publicly identified himself as either gay or transgender. Basically, they can’t handle the fact that he’s different, a sadly familiar scenario that triggers many a schoolyard bully to ruin some poor kid’s life. That’s right: children are dying because of hateful ideas like these. Shouldn’t adults know better than to propagate this shit? If anyone at FHM has kids of his or her own, they will recognize how irresponsible this was and apologize instead of just pretending it didn’t happen. I’m not holding my breath.
